Lord Howe Island
“Leanda Lei was established in 1954 by Roy and Daphne Wilson as the first purpose built guest house on Lord Howe Island and was a “honeymooner’s haven”.
In 1974 the accommodation was converted to self contained apartments, allowing for more freedom of choice regarding dining options. These have recently been renovated and refurbished.
Ideally situated at the lower end of Middle Beach Road, with no steep hills to climb, the apartments are set amid tranquil gardens and spacious lawns, with views towards mounts Gower and Lidgbird.
Native birdlife is abundant around Leanda Lei – you may even see the endangered woodhen, rescued from near extinction in the 1980’s and only found on Lord Howe.
Being owner operated and managed ensures quality service and value for money. This is one of the reasons visitors to Lord Howe Island continue to make “Leanda Lei the place to stay”.
Ideally located and within easy access to all the island’s main attractions: the Visitor Information Centre/Museum/Cafe is 200m away, and Lagoon Beach a short stroll. The main grocery store is only a few minutes walk away. The Bowling Club is 500m away. A selection of restaurants and cafes are nearby.
Leanda Lei offers a free phone for local calls, pay phone for National and International calls, recreation area and library, gas BBQ’s throughout the grounds, full laundry facilities, cars and pushbikes for hire on the premises, transfers to restaurants in the evenings, and priority bookings for all tours with Marine Adventure. Units are serviced weekly or a daily service can be arranged at an additional charge.
